Event Details

You have a choice of two events

  • 'Dirty 30 Challenge' - the full 30 mile event. Entry £25.
  • 'Dirty Dozen' - a shorter, 12 mile walk. Entry £20.

Registration

Registration is from 7:30am in Glenelg Village Hall. Please ensure you bring your application details.

Tea, coffee, bacon rolls, etc will be on sale (proceeds to Glenelg primary school).

Shuttle Bus

In order to minimise the traffic around Glenelg a free shuttle bus service will be available from Shiel Bridge camp site. Busses will run between 7:00am and 8:00am from Shiel Bridge.

A return bus will run every ½ hour from the finish in Glenelg back to Shiel Bridge.

Start

The event will start at 9:00am in front of the village hall. In a change to last year, those running the event will also start at 9:00am.

Finishing

The finish will be back at the Glenelg Village Hall, where you will receive your official time and a certificate recording your achievement. Those requiring a bus back to Shiel Bridge may have a small wait until the bus is available.

Again, tea, coffee, soup, home baking, etc will be on sale (proceeds to Glenelg primary school).

After the Event

On Sunday, at 12 noon (for those of you up early), the Prize Draw for the raffle will be held in the Glenelg Inn. This provides an opportunity to share your experiences with fellow walkers and to meet up with many of the marshalls and event organisers.

Car Park

Parking is available at Shiel Bridge (free shuttle bus to Glenelg). Limited parking is also available at Glenelg Hall and sports field. For safety reasons please do not use any other parking facility.

Safety and the Country Code

Every entrant must carry an Ordnance Survey Explorer Map 413 or Landranger 33, compass, whistle and head torch with spare batteries and wear suitable outdoor clothing.

The event passes through private estates please keep to the designated route. Please show consideration for local residents, close gates, do not light fires or drop litter.


Withdrawing

Anyone withdrawing should do so only at a checkpoint and must inform a marshal.

Toilets

At Shiel Bridge Camp Site and Glenelg Hall only.

Refreshments

Entrants must carry sufficient food and drink for the event. Shiel Bridge camp site has a shop and café. Glenelg Hall will have limited refreshments and there is a very small shop and an Inn in the village.

Dogs

No dogs are permitted.

Important Disclaimer

The Lochalsh Trail Club will endeavour to ensure the annual Dirty 30 passes without incident or accident; however, a mountain environment has many natural hazards inherent to mountain activities. Anyone who takes part in this challenge is expected to be fit enough to complete it and to take reasonable measures to ensure their own safety and of others around them.
